overview]
The Integrated intermediate water treatment equipment uses membrane
bioreactor (briefed as MBR) in the treatment process. This technology
is the new process technology combining the biological treatment technology
and membrane separation technology, which has taken the place of the
secondary sedimentation tank in the traditional process. The equipment
can efficiently carry out solid-liquid separation to get the intermediate
water, which can be used directly. It can also maintain high concentration
of microbial biomass in the biological tank with less residual sludge
and effective removal of ammonia. The suspended solids and turbidity
in the effluent water from this equipment is close to zero and the
bacteria and virus in the outlet water are also removed in large amount.
The equipment features low consumption and small floor area. As early
as in the 1970s, many countries including United States, Japan, South
Africa and many European countries began to use the membrane bioreactor
in the research for the sewage and wastewater treatment. Currently,
Japan has more than 1,000 MBR in operation with domestic sewage and
cooling water as the water source (such as shower drainage, toilet
drainage, laundry drainage, kitchen drainage).

[Applicable scope]
The equipment is suitable for treatment of domestic sewage and similar
industrial organic wastewater from residential areas, office buildings,
shopping malls, hotels, restaurants, offices, schools, military units
and factories etc and for treatment of organic sewage coming from
industries including textiles, beer, paper-making, leather-making,
food and chemical etc The intermediate water treatment equipments
produced by our company include many types such as 5t/d,25t/d,50t/d,100t/d,150t/d,200t/d,300t/d,500t/d
and so on.
[Process flow chart]
Raw water → screening → equalizing tank → lifting pump →Bioreactor
→ circulating pump →Membrane components → disinfection device → intermediate
water storage tank → intermediate water consumption system

The sewage flows into the equalizing tank through the screening and
is then sent to the bioreactor by lifting pump where oxygen is filled
by the aerators actuated by the PLC controller; water from the bioreactor
is sent to the membrane separation system by circulating pump and
the concentrated water will return to the equalization tank. Then
the water passing through the membrane will be disinfected by chlorine
dosing in quick and mixing manner (sodium hypochlorite, breaching
powder and chlorine tablet), after that, the water flows into the
intermediate water storage tank. The backwashing pump will use the
water from the cleaning tank to backwash the membrane treatment equipment
with the backwash sewage returning to the equalizing tank. When the
membrane components shall be chemically cleaned, close the water inlet
valve and sewage circulating valve and open the chemical cleaning
valve and chemical circulating valve, and then start the chemical
circulating pump to perform chemical cleaning activity.
The integrated bioreactor adopts programmable logic controller (PLC)
for the control with following functions:
• The whole operation procedures of membrane bioreactor are automatically
controlled, which greatly reduce the operating and management costs;
• The lifting pump stop running when the water inside the bioreactor
reaches high level and will automatically start when the water reduces
to low level.
The circulating pump will be started or stopped automatically according
to the water level of intermediate water tank
• Automatic start or stop of dosing pump and the dosing capacity may
be adjusted as per requirement
Cleaning and disinfection of the membranes will be performed automatically
• Motor furnished with over-current and over-loading protections
Currently the completed intermediate water recycle projects in China
have the common problems including inefficient treatment, high operating
costs and large occupying area of the facilities and the operation
of the treatment facilities not so good. So it is urgently required
to develop cost-effective, high-efficient intermediate water treatment
process and facility in the cities of China.

[Process characteristics of MBR]
1. Efficient solid-liquid separation to separate the suspended solids,
colloidal substances, and microbial biomass leaked from the previous
biological system from the purified water featuring simple separation
process simple, small land occupying and good effluent quality. Normally
the water may be reused without treatment in three-stages;
2. Capable of maintaining the biomass in the biological treatment
unit at high concentration to greatly increase the volume loading
and at the same time the high efficient membrane separation can significantly
shorten the retention time of water in the treatment equipment, thus
accordingly reduce the area of the bioreactor.
3. The capability of the equipment of preventing the loss of various
microbial can facilitate the growth of slow-growth bacteria such as
the nitrifying bacteria, etc. so that the metabolic process of the
system can proceed smoothly.
4. The retention time of some large molecule difficultly-decomposed
organics is extended, which can help the decomposition of the organics;
5. Just like other filtration and separation technologies, the membrane
which works as a kind of filtering medium will be possibly blocked
or the operating time and flow rate of the membrane will gradually
decrease during the long-term operation. So the efficient backwashing
and chemical cleaning can help to slow down the flow decrease of the
membrane and maintain the effective service life of the MBR system.
6. MBR technology has seen its wide applications in urban sewage treatment
because of its simple process, easy operation and fully automatic
operation and management.
